What is the biggest participant sport in the World? July 13, 2007

The biggest participant sport in the World is quite difficult to tackle. Partitipant sport, like, the most people interested in it? Swimming is. Not sports like taht (I interntionally misspelled taht)? Then, soccer (European English – football) is. Most people participate in a game? I have no idea. Stuff like running (mmm, marathon?) can be called like that.

However, here are some estimates (2002) for some bigger sports by people:

  • Swimming * 1500 Million
  • Soccer *1002 Million
  • Volleyball * 998 Million
  • Basketball * 400 Million
  • Table Tennis * 300 Million
  • Badminton * 200 Million
  • Tennis * 60 Million
  • Baseball * 60 Million
  • Dragon Boat Racing * 50 Million
  • Team Handball * 18 Million
  • Hockey * 3 million
  • Judo * 2.5 Million
  • Rugby * 2 Million
  • Cycling * 600,000

Ok, I got this data from somewher on the net. Good stuff. Not exact, maybe, though. Anyway, bye.
